Kennis vergaren en benutten met de EMM- en SSM-benadering levert handelingsperspectief voor nieuwe, soortgelijke situaties. Hierdoor worden (aanstaande) professionals goed uitgerust voor hun 'professional future'. Het menselijk geheugen werkt zo dat wij ervaringen opdoen en die ervaring benutten in toekomstige, soortgelijke situaties (daarvoor passen wij zogenoemd 'analogie-denken' toe):
