The Expertise Management ontology (EMont) is the foundation of EMM. Human knowledge can be modeled with this ontology, but the situation in which human knowledge is applied is modeled too. A situation is characterized by humans who want to achieve shared goals as well as personal goals, which may and usually do conflict with goals set out by other humans. In order to reach their goals, humans need to be facilitated, either with material things like machines, money, labor, or with immaterial things like knowledge or mental support.
In this tutorial, we show how human knowledge is modeled and how the knowledge can be situated in particular contexts. The ideas described here can also be found in this brief introduction to EMont.
