Revetments provide a habitat for many species. Like natural rocky shores they have prominent features like a strong vertical zonation of species. Many factors influence the presence and distribution of species on revetments which are reviewed in this part of the wiki. While many abiotic factors, like air and water temperature, can’t be controlled, the design and material used for a revetment can be critical to its nature values.
